Does Your Child Need a Tutor?

DOES YOUR CHILD NEED A TUTOR

Does your child need a tutor? There comes the point in every child’s life where he/she struggles in school. Tougher academic standards and broader curriculum have made it harder for students to keep up with the ever rigorous course contents taught in class.

Tutor

There’s also the possibility of your child failing to master a critical concept in school, and by that, it leaves them far behind of his peers. As a parent, one of the advantages of constantly keeping an eye on your children is that you get to notice when their grades are either skyrocketing or dropping, and that’s the perfect time to get a tutor.

Individual tutoring is just what your child needs to get back on track because of the tremendous benefits that come with it.

Is it a good idea to hire a tutor for you elementary school child? Often, children may be reluctant to ask for help but could benefit from some extra assistance. In general, children have difficulty articulating their feelings about what is going on around them and might fail to tell you upfront.

Ask yourself these few questions to know where you stand with your child;

  • Have you noticed any of these signs?
  • Have your child’s grades been slipping?
  • Is your child studying, but still doing poorly on tests?
  • Has their attitude about school changed?
  • Lack of interest in learning can be a sign of struggling, or maybe boredom. An evaluation by a tutor can help.
  • Has the teacher contacted you? If not, you can ask the teacher what he/she thinks.
  • Have you recently changed schools? Sometimes, transition help is all that is needed to get back on track.
  • Has your child’s behavior changed? Increased frustration or outbursts can be a sign that something at school or with homework is a problem.
  • Sometimes it is the parent that needs the help! You and your child may know that he/she needs help, but you don’t have the skills, knowledge or time to provide it.
  • Do you have trouble answering questions your child has about their homework?
  • Is homework time a battle? Sometimes a “neutral” third party can be helpful in this situation.
  • Does your schedule not allow a good time to work with your child?

Tutor

If you notice any of these signs, it is better to get support for your child sooner than later.  Getting a tutor for your child would help keep him/her on the right track academically. Never underestimate the power of teaching a child One-on-one. That could just be the breakthrough your child needs in their academic endeavors.
